Call for Participation in Summer School 2025 'Digital Tools for Humanists'

CLARIN-IT is pleased to announce the Summer School 2025 'Digital Tools for Humanists', which will be held in Pisa as well as in a virtual format from 16 to 27 June 2025.
The Summer School is organized by the University of Pisa under the direction of LABCD (Laboratory for Digital Culture) with the support of CLARIN-IT and under the patronage of AIUCD (Italian Association for Digital Humanities and Culture), AIPH (Italian Association of Public History) and CISPH (Interuniversity Centre for Research and Development of Public History).
The Summer School is addressing all those interested in getting basic and working knowledge of a selection of digital tools available today to scholars in many different fields of the Humanities.
The edition of 2025 will focus on tools and applications dealing mostly with History and applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In the first week the focus will be on the basic application fields and methos related to History, like GIS, Philological Digital Editions, Public History.
In the second week the focus will be more specifically on AI topics, like Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, Cultural Heritage and Ethics.
The Summer School will maintain its character of being “practice oriented” and all the afternoons will be dedicated to hands-on laboratories.
The minimum requirement for enrolling in the Summer School is a Bachelor Degree in any discipline.
Graduate students and professionals in the Humanities, such as PhD students, librarians, teachers, researchers and archivists are the perspective participants of the Summer School.
In the 2025 edition, which will cover two consecutive weeks, it is possible to register either only for the session scheduled in the first week or for both sessions scheduled in the two weeks.
Digital Tools for Humanists – Working on History will be held from 16 to 20 June 2025.
The registration fee for attending only the first week of the Summer School is € 300 (€ 250 for the Tuition fee + € 50 for the didactic material).
Upon request, the University of Pisa can issue a certificate of 3 credits (ECTS - European Credit Transfer System); but each attendee will have to arrange on his own for such certificate to be recognized by the institution he/she belong to.
For this first option, the Summer School offers two scholarships covering the Tuition fee.
Digital Tools for Humanists – Working with AI will be held from 16 to 27 June 2025.
The registration fee for attending both weeks of the Summer School is € 600 (€ 500 for the Tuition fee + € 100 for the didactic material).
Upon request, the University of Pisa can issue a certificate of 6 credits (ECTS - European Credit Transfer System); but each attendee will have to arrange on his own for such certificate to be recognized by the institution he/she belong to.
For this second option, the Summer School offers one scholarship covering the Tuition fee.
The registration deadline has been extended from 30 April to 15 May 2025.
